: System appears to Lock-up during UPDATE AIRCRAFT FILE in FLT TIMES

APPLICABILTY AIRCRAFT RECORDS SECTION - ALL VERSIONS OF CAFAM
In order to preserve the integrity of the Aircraft Records system, we introduced a FILE LOCK process during the Update of Aircraft files. This change was done in Rev 5e.40 on the 27th Aug 2005. From the feedback we have received, we have found that the File Lock presents its own set of difficulties on busy Networked CAFAM. These difficulties have required Users to verbally communicate with each other to "release" the file in order that the files could be updated. To sum it up, this process has proved very inconvenient and required a better solution
We have developed a new routine within the program that does a self-correction of hours/landings using an internal to the relevant data file a check-sum process that keeps the times remaining aligned. Thus if a record was temporarily locked in the file update process, this check-sum recognises the difference and self-corrects the data at a next Update of Hours If you are experiencing the above difficulties, then we recommend you update the system to version 5e.44 or above
